The Moroccan shore extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean, where the Sahara Desert meets the sea. The sharp and solid Atlas

mountain range stands out in the Northern Mediterranean landscape, where in the whitewashed buildings the blue pigment shades show, and

the trans-saharian caravans passed through and impressive land forts rise. In the South, the stern landscape of the desert barren plains merges with

the ocean influence, sprinkled by oasis in dry rivers valleys and in the mountains of the Anti-Atlas. All along the shore, traces of the Lusitanian occupation witness the struggle to ensure the rule of the commercial routes between the South and Europe. Ancient castles and walled towns can the seen, where today cities rise, or protected ruins, some more than others, in strategic locations of the shore.

Tingitana Peninsula

The Grupo do Risco undertook a guided path through the Portuguese heritage and remains in Morocco, all along the coast, over 23 days, supported by the Portuguese Embassy and a number of local organizations. In the North, Tingitana displays a Mediterranean landscape, known to be the land of white medinas and the plains of Alcácer Quibir.

Doukkalla-Abda Coast

This coast has the most remarkable remains of the Portuguese presence in Morocco. The Grupo do Risco stopped in Mazagão and other places, registering the new realities of a common past.

Mogador and the Souss Coast

In the South of Essaouira we go arround the Atlas and the Sahara gets closer to the coast, to the rugged landscape to the sea and the argan tree montados. In the inner land, on the Anti-Atlas mountains, beautiful oasis appear, one after the other, on winding routes.

Marrakech and the Atlas Route

The Grupo do Risco travelled across the desert through the Draa valley, dried out in the summer peak, crossed the impressive Atlas mountains, with

its earth constructions and rugged landscapes, entering the luxuriant and cosmopolitan Marrakech.
